In 20XX, mahjong has gotten to the point where human input and reasoning is practically irrelevant. The ever-growing presence and reliance on AI has made everyone care more about their Mortal ratings than truly enjoying the game. Its word has become law, and those who are caught unfit to today's standards are sent to the Mortal Correction Facility, an inhumane place where unbearable punishments and relentless brainwashing takes place to make aspiring adeptchads and earnest mahjongers into another pack of soulless digital bots.
Amidst the poor prisoners who have been lobotomized into shadows of their former selves, Cell 4 stands in Mortal's way, fighting every day for their lives, bonding over their moments of respite, plotting their escape from the facility.
This is the story of their fight to protect the mahjong they love, and show that no matter how much time passes, Mahjong will always be a game driven by the human HEART.
